A fully-lined suit jacket is heavier, warmer and has a thicker look to it. As opposed to half lined or unlined suit jackets, a lined jacket will not crinkle or catch on your dress shirt as easy. The extra fabric (the lining) is another layer between the outside shell on your body.
Fabric Linings is used in both sewing and tailoring, lining refers to the inner-layer of fabric or other material that is used to provide a neat finish to the garment or accessory.
The lining in a leather jacket is structurally and fashionably important for the jacket. A jacket with lining is heavier, warmer and has a thick look, thus it lays nicely over the body contours. The extra layer of cloth helps to obtain a perfect fit, while also making the jacket fall smoothly from top to bottom. Jacket lining not only helps absorb sweat, but also provides another layer of cloth that helps keep body heat closer to the skin.
The lining provides a smoother and clean finish to the jackets by concealing interlinings, raw edges and padding, and most importantly - it also extends the life of the jacket. The lining in a leather jacket helps to perfectly shape to your body, while also preventing it from stretching.
Viscose lining fabrics are anti-static, smooth to the touch, soft, pliable and light enough in weight. Viscose is sometimes called Rayon. Viscose, man-made fiber created from cellulose chemically extracted from trees. It's a little weaker in strength than cotton, and thus is often used to make delicate, lighter clothing.
